Acesur is the project manager of this second annuity of PHENOILS project again (European I+D project with the financial support of EIT-FOOD), whose season has started 1º October 2021.
This project is being carried on by a consortium of entities which work for the benefit of quality technology innovation, in the international olive sector, where are found CSIC, University of Turin, Fraunhofer, EPS and Acesur.
Four different locations which could be found in RIS regions, where olive sector has main importance in their economic and social development, have been chosen for the tests and trainings that will be carried out (Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece).
The project will have two ways this annuity, the first one is a high pilot scale, carried on by CSIC-IG (Seville) and University of Turin, while in Portugal, will be carried on and industrial scale coordinated with EPS. The technologies selected for this annuity are PEF (electromagnetic pulses field) and Ultrasounds (US), which will be tested independently and combined.
The tests will be carry out with Arbequina, Manzanilla, Coratina and Taggiasca cultivars, ate the optimal ripening stage, approximately around the first 15 days of November.
All the partners face this new season with optimism view of the clearer results obtained that allow to determinate the best technology to obtain a new extra virgin olive oil with high amount of polyphenols which overcome EFSA´s requirements for the labelling of healthy quality and thus contribute even more beneficial qualities for the consumer.
